Dana waldron
FOUNDER
Dana’s passion for interior design is driven by her curiosity of the details that are unique to each project. As the daughter of an artist, she grew up in her mother’s studio, where she was intrigued by all the materials and time dedicated to the meaning of each painting. That creative environment and process remains a powerful influence for Murphy Waldron Interiors.
After earning a degree in Interior Design and Business at Appalachian State University, she moved to New York City to begin her design career with Holland & Sherry. This early experience on the vendor side of the industry was formative to Dana’s expertise on mill production, fabric design, as well as sales coordination across more than 200 interior design firms. She then moved to the design side of the interiors industry, working with globally recognized firms such as Studio Sofield and Meyer Davis on residential, retail, hospitality and commercials projects. Experience with both sides of the industry provided a well-rounded education for clear communication with vendors, artisans, and clients, building lasting relationships within the industry.
Within each project, Murphy Waldron Interiors strives to thoroughly assess all details to ensure a comfortable balance between utility and aesthetic. Gathering inspiration from great artists and designers is an important step to create the right environment that suits the location and meets the client's needs. Some favorites being Sonia Delauney, Andree Putman, Axel Vervoordt, Nakashima...
A North Carolina native, she now lives in Durham with her husband and two daughters, Nell and Annie.
